You know how we feel about games. It’s a pretty strong passion. It’s matched (or even surpassed) by our family’s obsession with all-things-Marvel. As a family, we watch all the movies first-run at the theater, play Marvel games and watch TV shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter. (With the exception of Daredevil and Marvel’s Jessica Jones that Scott and I watch without them the kids.) You may recall how we trekked to Chicago just to hear Stan Lee speak at C2E2 a few year ago. A few of you were even lucky enough to win copies of Marvel Cinematic Universe edition of Trivial Pursuit and Risk: Marvel Cinematic Universe Board Game that we gave away when we featured them in our Gift Guide of Family Games and Hobby Games Gift Guide.

You might say we like Marvel. You would probably be more accurate to say we LOVE Marvel.

So describing my reaction as shocked and amazed when I received one of only 25 pixie-dusted invitations to attend the press event for Marvel’s Captain America, Civil War would be a bit of an understatement. Remember last year when I was invited to attend the Red Carpet Premiere of Inside Out? I often said how surreal the entire trip was with exclusive interviews with Kyle MacLachlan, Jordan Fisher and Chrissie Fit as well as the creators of Phineas and Ferb. Take that and multiple it by, I don’t know, infinity… and you have THIS. You know me; I’m seldom speechless, but this was one of those times. We were finishing up lunch to head out the door to a movie when the email came in. I couldn’t even finish my lunch I was so surprised. Here’s a breakdown of the types of exclusive information I’ll be sharing with you as a result of the event:

I’m a sibling. I’m the mother of siblings. My husband is a sibling. As much as you love each other, sometimes you just… don’t. Different opinions, different attitudes, different experiences but most important, different viewpoints of the exact same situation.

That’s exactly what I see whenever I see a trailer for Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War. I love all these heroes and hate to see them bicker. I’m excited for the movie and a little anxious at the same time. Tell me if you think they’re acting like a bunch of siblings.

We haven’t received all the details yet, but in addition to screening the movie, I can tell you that I’ll be participating in exclusive interviews with some talent from the film. It’s a pretty impressive cast including Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Scrlett Johannson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Don Cheadle, Jeremy Renner, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Emily VanCamp, Frank Grillo, Martin Freeman with William Hurt and Daniel Bruhl. (Ummm. Wow.) During our Inside Out exclusive interview, I asked the most unusual topping Kyle MacLachlan ever had on a pizza as an ode to the broccoli pizza featured in the film. For Captain America: Civil War, who would you want to interview and what unique question would you pose? Will you be siding with Captain America or Iron Man?

Disney Channel Original Movie “Adventures in Babysitting”

Tentative release: Summer 2016

You know what Scott did the other day? He helped the girls make babysitting flyers for Kennedy and Madison to hand out to neighbors. The timing of “Adventures in Babysitting” couldn’t be more timely for us! If you’re old enough, you may recall the 1980’s movie of the same name which was the inspiration for this Disney Channel original. Two competing babysitter set out on an adventure in the big city to locate one of the kids who somehow snuck away. Among the cast are Sabrina Carpenter (of Disney Channel’s hit comedy series “Girl Meets World”) and Sofia Carson (of the hit Disney Channel Original Movie “Descendants”). As with Teen Beach 2, we’ll have access to interviews with some of the show’s talent. What questions do you have about this movie and its cast?

We’ll be going behind the scenes with the newest addition to the Thursday lineup! I know “The Catch” sounds like it could be the latest reality dating show, but it’s not. Yes, there’s a woman after a man, but not for the reasons you might think. From the producers of “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal” and “How to Get Away with Murder”, Alice Vaughan is LA’s top private investigator, but when her fiancé Benjamin Jones cons her out of millions and disappears, she goes on a private mission for payback stopping at nothing to catch her man. What burning questions do you have about this show or for its cast?

  1. Looks like a great event! I always wonder what kind of hours/days they put in making a particular film. What locations it was shot at, those kinds of things.

  2. Adventures in Babysitting is a classic and I was thrilled that my kiddos sat down to watch the original just last month and ended up loving it just as much as I did. P.S. We’re big Marvel fans too!
