In December of 1991, I graduated from college which officially made me a member of the adult world. Scott and I had met in the fall of 1990, so by the time I graduated I already knew he was the person I would grow old with. We were married, lived and worked in the Quad Cities until a job opportunity led us to California. We worked, traveled, moved a few times and had kids. From that time until now, we have experienced changes in health, weight, hobbies, interests and even food preferences. A lot can happen in a time frame that spans almost 30 years.

People change and so do companies and products. But has there ever been a brand you’ve stuck with for many years and through the various cycles of your life? Maybe it’s a particular restaurant or food. Perhaps it’s a clothing line or brand of makeup. Possibly it’s a service company that you’ve used for taxes, vision care or medical needs. For me, that brand has been Sam’s Club. I’ve been a member since before I graduated and have watched it grow from having warehouses primarily in the Midwest to expanding nationwide. It’s evolved from mostly being known as a place for stocking up on household goods to becoming a one-stop shop for food (including fresh, frozen and even gourmet), beverages, health and beauty products, clothing, holiday needs and baby stuff. I remember a time when the payment options were limited whereas now you are able to order online, scan and go at the warehouse or set up a subscription for regular deliveries.

In that same period of time that I’ve watched Sam’s Club grow, it’s done the same for me. It’s been there for our engagement, wedding, multiple moves, pets and two children. As I listen to friends share about becoming grandmothers, I think back to the time when I was struggling to maintain my peace of mind with a toddler, a baby and a husband who worked really long hours to support us. Then I realize that new moms today have so many more options for keeping organized and purchasing baby supplies than I ever did when my girls were babies.

It was a while ago but I remember the struggle quite well. I would walk to the dollar store down the street simply because I needed out of the house but I couldn’t handle a full-on trip to the store. I was in constant fear of toddler meltdowns or a hungry baby. On the weekends, we would head to Sam’s Club or other store to buy diapers, wipes and Genie refills in bulk so we wouldn’t run out, then we would wing-it with groceries.

As I walk through Sam’s Club now, I see shelves filled with brand name baby products as well as Member’s Mark products as a more economic alternative. Whether Sam’s Club had all that when my girls were babies, I don’t remember. I was perpetually overwhelmed. I honestly don’t remember a lot during that time which is why I made sure to capture photos and videos every day.

What I DO remember is that they didn’t offer a subscription service to have products delivered directly to your home. Nor was there a Club Pickup option! With special parking spaces right by the warehouse, you can place your order then pull up, load and go.

When I’m in the store, I can skip the lines using the Scan & Go app. As I put things in the cart, I scan them into the app. When I’m done, I pay on my phone then show my digital receipt at the door. It’s incredibly easy and gets me out the door faster. When I was a new mom, that would have been heavenly… especially when tantrums set in midway through the store.

Time is precious for new moms (and old moms for that matter) so it’s difficult to find time for clipping coupons. It is helpful that Sam’s Club offers Instant Savings which you can find online and prominently displayed next to the price in the warehouse to help save a few dollars here and there.

Don’t have a Sam’s Club membership to take advantage of all these benefits? No problem! You can also enter to win one of 25 $100 Sam’s Plus Gift of Membership gift cards. If you prefer to jump right in, sign up now and receive a $20 gift card in addition to $25 in new member Instant Savings.

Whether you have a baby or are trying to keep the cabinets stocked for growing teens, Sam’s Club has plenty of ways to save on groceries, clothing, household goods and more. What are you waiting for? Sign up today! Speaking of today… If you’ll be online at 10am PT/1pm ET, join the #NewMomsLoveSams Twitter party where they’ll be talking about why new moms love Sam’s Club. Would you try the Scan & Go app or the Store Pickup option first?

  1. I go to a Sam’s Club when I visit my family in the Midwest but do not have any nearby to where I live. Wish I did.

  2. I have been to Sam’s Club a couple of times when I have been down to the US and I loved it. If I had a membership I would definitely try the Scan & Go App. Lines can get so long especially during the holidays.

  3. Sam’s Club is such a great place to get our bulk items and fresh produce. I am always amazed at all of the items they have in store and even on line. Having a membership there is something I am always glad that we have, and the money we save buying bulk makes it all worth while.

  4. When it comes to raising a family it is nice to have a place to go where you can buy in bulk. Sam’s Club definitely sounds like a great place to get everything you need. I have heard they have a great meat and produce section.

  5. I am always hearing so much about Sams club, I definitely need to check it out because I am always shopping for one of my grandchildren and then some.
