Thrift Treasure: Connect 4 Launchers

I think Connect 4 is one of those games that every single one of you has played at one time or another. It’s so wonderful in its simplicity and can be played by all ages. Not only do we have the original in our collection, we also have a travel version, a Lego U-Build It game and recently highlighted a similar-themed 3D version, Stratos Spheres.

But this week we found something entirely new – Connect 4 Launchers. We all have gotten to the point of throwing game pieces when we’re losing a game (you have, right?), but this game requires the rings to become airborne!

The premise is still the same. Get four in a row – but now you can do so on either level of the board in any direction. In the base game you can steal a section by landing yours on top of your opponent’s piece. In the advanced rules you must have more pieces than your opponent in a square. Majority rules!

This version of Connect 4 is much more exciting than the original and adds quite a bit of dexterity skill to the game. You’ll also need to be quick with your placement, lest your opponent take the spot before you! And while a picture is worth 1000 words, check out this video tutorial our daughter made that will show you exactly how the game works!

We found our copy of Connect 4 Launchers at Goodwill, but you can still find copies on Amazon and eBay for a decent price if you are patient. Don’t be fooled by the listings that are over $70, it regularly appears for closer to it’s original retail price of under $30.

  1. Addie would LOVE this- she is always looking for a reason to throw things 😉 Looks like another fun game to add to family night- I love that you find all sorts of games all over the place- including thrift stores! Gives a whole new dimension to my bargain hunting.

  2. I love Connect 4 growing up. We actually go to a bar in town that has a gigantic one and it’s so fun. I thought that version was the only variation. I had no idea this Launchers one existed. It seems like so much fun. I’ll have to look for it next time I’m out shopping.

  3. Found this at a thrift store as well. It’s missing a few rings, but my little one loves it nonetheless.
