Innovative Grooming for Innovative Men
Many years ago I started sharing on a personal blog that I had created. It was a place for me to tell about my family. Vent about things that bothered me. Share quirky comments and lifeisms. It was an online diary that became more than just a place to share stories.
Our lives change and things evolve. That’s what happens. The result of my blog metamorphosis is what you’re looking at now: SAHM Reviews. For the majority of that time, Scott was supportive but hands-off. He offered, countless times, to help but I always turned him down. With a background in graphics, he could create images much more professional than mine in a fraction of the time it would take me to just resize and add my logo. Just over a year ago, he was instrumental in the revamping of the website. From that point, I accepted ever bit of help he was willing to give.
Since he started helping, I’ve been in awe of how many blogging colleagues have asked about him. Told me how fantastic it is that he is such a big part of SAHM Reviews. “That’s awesome that your husband helps!” “I can’t even get my husband to read my blog let alone have him help.” “I wish my husband was more interested in blogging with me.” “I keep telling my husband about Scott in hopes he’ll realize it’s okay to help.” These are just a few of the types of comments I have received regarding my innovative husband.
But his talents go beyond the blog. Despite having a financial background, he started researching whenever something needed attention. Using YouTube videos and a lot of reading, he has repaired more than one of our appliances along with completed some major repairs on our old van. He also is extremely involved in the girls’ activities. He learned how to tune their cello and violin. He learned about robotics. He teaches them new games, plays soccer or Frisbee in the street with them and more. He encourages dessert for dinner every once in a while because, why not? He even paints their nails for them. He’s fantastic.
I’m so grateful to have a husband that is intelligent, involved and innovative. He wears fitness bands, researches new technology, learns about best practices for everything from finance to cooking. Buying things for him is nearly impossible though. Why? Because just like his personality, he likes innovation.
He also likes to look nice. Even though he is retired and doesn’t work outside the home, he still shaves regularly. He’s been using one of the ‘expensive disposable’ razors I purchased super cheap during my couponing phase. I thought, “Hey, why not get him something nicer. Something fancier. Something more innovative!” How about a Philips Norelco 9700 shaver?
You’re probably asking yourself “It’s a razor. What makes it innovative?” You asked that, right? I did! I mean, a razor is a razor, right? Just a reminder that I am the same person who just a minute ago classified disposable razors as cheap (the kind with no frills) vs expensive (the kind with batteries that last a little longer and have refills). That’s like the extent of what I consider innovative in terms of facial grooming. But since Scott took such a liking to the high-end grooming products he tested a few months back, I guess I should have realized that it does make a difference.
And he’s worth it!
The Philips Norelco Series 9000 offers three shaving heads that use Contour Detect Technology that flex independently in eight different directions. It offers V-Track Precision Technology allowing for a closer shave, even in hard to reach places. Another feature is Motion Sensor Interface. In other words, it has an indicator on the handle that tells you battery level, cleaning indicator, replacement head indicator and more.
But one of the most unique… and wait for it… INNOVATIVE features is the SmartClean System. It contains a DualFilter system that cleans hairs, foam and gel all at the touch of a button. While you can easily remove the components after each use to rinse them out, the SmartClean System is recommended less frequently but does a more thorough job!
We’ve used Philips products for years and trust their quality as well as their effectiveness. I suspect this one will be a winner in our home also.
If this is something you think you’ll be gifting for Father’s Day (or just because you love the innovative man in your life) be sure to clip the coupon on the Amazon listing to take advantage of the $40 off promotion!
Do you embrace innovation in your household products?
In some products yet. I love my electric toothbrush. For me I use disposable razors for my legs. Hubby has an electric that needs replacing, he’s used it for a few years.
Oh, yes! I love smart, caring men. And they’re even more appealing when they’ve shaved their chins. My older version (man) still uses a cheap razor blade ro prize the grey hairs from his lower face.
I have never used an electric shaver, always a good quality razor and ‘King of Shaves’ shaving gel. The issue with shaving is that many men don’t learn how to shave properly and so suffer fast grow back, my Son has inherited his Mums Dark hair and used to get really frustrated that he would shave in the morning and by lunchtime it looked like he hadn’t bothered, then I taught him how to shave correctly and everything is good in the world
I love innovation in any product, electronic or otherwise. I totally embrace new and inventive products and approaches.
I like that it has a low battery indicator. I always forget to change them until it’s too late & then I have to run to the store.
My husband loves innovation too – he always wants to have the latest and greatest products. I will have to check out this razor for him!
My husband would love this. He always uses an electric shaver for the ease of it, but it never gives him the really close shave he loves.
My hubby is a vet, so old habits die hard. He is ALWAYS clean shaven and I am a-ok with it 🙂
That’s interesting, Robin. I didn’t realize vets needed to be clean-shaven!
I wish my husband was involved with my blog, I so could use the help! I think you two make a perfect duo!
This sounds like the perfect Father’s Day gift for my husband. Sounds like it has all of the latest technology to ensure a super close shave.
Innovative–me–no. I am lucky I can use easy non tech stuff without tearing out my hair and running for cover. I am one of those non mechanical people that men generally groan about as they take whatever is in my hands–out of them! I do have one friend whose husband still shaves every single day–he would definitely appreciate this shaver!!
That will certainly do a fine job of smoothing up a man’s face. It’s really nice!
I is so cool he helps. My hubby listens and offers ideas but that is about.Love the Phillips Norelco products.
My husband is currently testing this out and he loves it. He thinks they really thought of everything to make it useful to dads.
This is great that Scott helps out so much. I have “run across” him a few times in various FB groups. I like the current vision of the Philips Norelco line. Also, I Love your “Disclosure” button. Where can I get one of those?
Ok first of all awesome family photo. Secondly I love the razor. I will have to check that out for my teenager
I have always thought that it was super cool how y’all team up for the blog! My husband is just scared he would mess mine up LOL Oh, and the razor looks amazing!
We all have our strengths and weaknesses, Kristen. Your husband just needs to harness his! Whether it’s helping take the photos, creating a how-to of some sort that you can create a post from, or even just sharing a personal story that others can relate to, if he is interested in helping, don’t let fear get in the way!
I love how Scott is so involved with your blog. This is a great read and I read the entire thing! I had no idea about the SmartClean System but would have come in very handy when the hubs shaved way back then. He has had a bushy beard for years now but does like to keep the surrounding area clean so this may just work for him. Thanks for the great review. 🙂
Oh, and one more thing….the image of the chocolate milkshake is AMAZING!
