Winter-Safe Golfing Indoors
You know we can’t pass up a bargain on games. We’ve purchased so many at our local Goodwill we are practically on a first-name basis with the employees! Most of our Thrift Treasures are average, but every once in a while we find a gem that we keep going back to. And yes, there are stinkers. But thrift stores and yard sales aren’t the only place we’ve found deals. Here’s a little-known secret: Target clearances out many of their games twice a year for 75% off!
Their sales usually do not include classics like Monopoly or Scrabble, but that’s OK – that’s not what we’re after. We adore the small-publisher issues that may only be available for a season or two. I’ve always had an affinity for dice games (especially ones with 10- or 20-sided dice), so when we saw GoLo Golf Dice Game at our local store for under $4, it was a no-brainer.
GoLo Golf Dice Game simulates a full 18-hole round of golf using nine custom dice. But instead of 4-5 hours on the course, a full game of four rounds should only last around 10-15 minutes!
Each die represents a hole for either the front or back nine of a course. Red dice are the par 3 holes, whites are par 4 and blues are the par 5’s.
Roll all nine dice at once; you must keep at least one of the results (low rolls) and re-roll the rest. Continue doing this as many times as you wish, setting aside at least one per roll.
The dice are also marked with symbols to help you determine the quality of your roll. A star around the number means it was an eagle, a circle is a birdie, while a square means you hit par.
Add up the total of all nine dice and record your score before passing it along to the next ‘golfer’. You’ll get one more turn to play our your last nine holes before totaling up your score to see who is lowest.
Just like in real golf there are a couple extra optional rules. At the beginning of any roll you may call “bottoms”. This means you get to flip all of your dice over and accept the number that would have been facing the table. The odds are the same, but if you feel you’ve been rolling high numbers for a while, it may be a good way to break that streak.
If any dice leave the table they are considered “out of bounds” and must be re-rolled with a 2-stroke penalty. But if you catch the die in the air before it leaves the playing field, you get a “mulligan” and can re-roll it without penalty.
And lastly, just like in real golf, you will be disqualified for picking up the dice before the scoring is complete. Patience is a virtue here.
While we did find it on clearance over the summer, GoLo Golf Dice Game is still available new from Amazon and direct from the publisher’s website. Zobmondo has a number of other dice and board games in their library. Be sure to let them know you’d like to see more of their products here on SahmReviews!

This does sound like a fun game, as long as you have patience (which I do!). I like miniature golf only so this should be a hole in one for me.
