I may not have a green thumb, but that doesn’t mean I cannot try to grow a plant here or there. I love having herbs as well as fresh tomatoes and feel these things encourage the kids to eat healthier. My Fairy Garden: Fairy Light Garden is a toy but also a plant! We included it in our gifts for younger kids and think it’s a great way to introduce them to gardening! PlayMonster has provided one of these fun toys as a prize so enter to win!

  1. I was young, really young, I remember growing a flower from a seed, don’t remember what it was, and my Mom would set me up on the counter and help me check the dirt and let me water it when I could barely even hold the mini watering can.

  2. When I was just a little kid, our neighbors (who were as close as family) had a garden and reserved a patch for my sister and me. I grew pinto beans (with their help, of course)!

  3. I helped with our garden growing up. Mainly pulling weeds. I distinctly remember a daddy long legs crawling down over my face once while I was weeding. lol

  4. I was about 7 years old, some 57 years ago, I remember helping my mom and my girl friend’s garden. We planted cucumbers and onions. My girlfriend’s family planted tomatoes and radishes and carrots
The tomatoes were awesome!! We had to fight off other little animals from eating our carrots.

  5. I remember growing those tickle plants in grade school. They move when you touch their leaves I remember thinking they were so cool. Prob age 6.

  6. Gardening was fun. I had a stroke so I look at gardens and am in awe at the produce it provides. Always grateful to receive a few vegetables from landlords garden in the summer.

  7. I have taken care of plants since I was very young. My grandparents always had a garden and we loved to plant everything and we love to work in our yard.

  8. My first time taking care of a garden was early in my childhood. My parents grew a “truck patch”. We always had rows and rows of vegetables to take care of. I planted, watered, hoe’d weeds and harvested. This was throughout my entire childhood. Then we canned in jars and canned for the freezer. I look back and at that moment, I wasn’t always happy to be doing it, but now, I realize what a blessing it was.

  9. I remember helping my grandpa letting me plant some flower and vegetable seeds in his garden as a little girl.
