High-End Music Solution for Outdoors

One of the latest offerings from our favorite high-end audio company brings the clear sound you expect from SOL REPUBLIC and lets everyone listen in at once. This is no ordinary Bluetooth speaker, this is a high-powered, soft-textured, party-friendly device that trumps everything we’ve seen to date in both quality and aesthetics. But enough of the fancy-talk, let’s look at the specs and features.
Weighing in at under 12 ounces and about the size of a phablet (yes, that’s a real word), the DECK from SOL REPUBLIC is intended to be seen as well as heard. There is no ignoring the bright neon yellow of our model, but if you need something more subdued, it is available in red, blue and gunmetal gray.
The prominent SOL REPUBLIC logo on the top isn’t just for looks, it lights up in various colors to alert you of different charging stages as well as the activation of the Heist feature. What is “Heist” you ask? It is a unique feature that sets this model apart from others in the same price range. In Heist mode, up to 5 people can connect to the speaker from their various devices and then “take over” DJ’ing at a moment’s notice – thus the term “Heist”.
You can also daisy-chain multiple units together with the included color-matching cable to completely surround you and your party in sound.
Charging is also simple using the included (and standard) USB cable, and thanks to the large lithium battery, will keep the party jumping for up to 10 hours! Another feature we haven’t seen yet is something they call “Super Power Wireless”. A cartoonish name for an extended wireless range that is claimed to reach up to 300ft. This is much more than the standard 30ft for a typical Bluetooth application. And while I didn’t officially measure the distance, I did not lose signal across our entire yard and a little up the street – easily over 100 feet. The heist feature would be so much fun for a party! Everyone could bring a playlist and swap out music at will. I need to look into this for Christmas.

This is small enough that I could take it anywhere, plus use it on my back porch if I wanted to. I think the Deck Ultra with more battery life would be the one I would need.

I definitely need one of these. My wife and I cut our cable subscription out so I currently go out on the back deck with an old radio, that I have to plug in to listen to Baseball games. This would be perfect. I’ve always wanted outdoor speakers, but didn’t want the hassle of wiring them up.

The unit looks like it would be a hit with teenagers, but I cannot imagine any adults who would want to tick off the neighbors. I don’t particularly like yellow *(too bright)* but I wouldn’t mind a blue one!
