A Maniacal Card Matching Game

Disclosure

There are some games that we’re too old for. I can accept it when it is a game designed for toddlers or targeted towards the Nickelodeon crowd. But Loonacy, the card matching game from Looney Labs, made me realize just how slow my reaction time has gotten during the last 40-something years.

In a nutshell, this is simply a card matching game. The twist? There are no turns, just a race to match cards the fastest.

Looney Labs has put together a quick announcement and tutorial video that I believe will explain the game as well as I can in 200 words.

Notice how they only used adult actors? Yeah, they didn’t want to get beat by the quick mind and reflexes of an 11yr-old either.

You may recognize Looney Labs as the maker of their breakout game hit, Fluxx, which has spawned a number of follow-up versions like Zombie Fluxx and Pirate Fluxx. In fact, the items you see on the cards in Loonacy are objects from the entire Fluxx series!

If you want a game that the entire family will enjoy (and the kids will almost always win at), then Loonacy is an inexpensive solution. You haven’t seen Loonacy on the shelves of your local retailer (yet) as it was just released this Spring, but you can find it on Amazon for under $15!

Be sure to check out all the other offerings from Looney Labs, including one we hope to get our hands on someday, Chrononauts! They love meeting their fans on Facebook and Twitter, so give them a like and follow! Be sure to tell them you want to see more of their stuff on SahmReviews.com!

  1. This definitely looks like a game my whole family would enjoy, but I’m not sure I want to get beaten by the kids!

  2. This looks like a game even my son would like. He needs things that are fast pace to keep him interested. I think I might look for this game. Is it only on Amazon or do you think they would carry this at the toy store?

  3. This would be awesome to take with us to our U of M trip when we go to Ann Arbor. I’ll have to remember to try and find it when were out shopping for the trip we go to u of m June 4th

  4. This looks like fun but totally something that I would never win a game at. I am traveling back home this summer and will be spending some time with my younger nieces and nephews and this looks like it would be fun to play with them.

  5. My reaction time and memory is definitely NOT what it used to be! This looks like it would be a fun game to play with the kids, and work on my ‘skills’ too!

  6. Both my girls don’t have patience to play with card games. This matching game looks like fun and I think I would like to get it for them. I am thinking it would help during long road trips.
