Tomodachi Life Video Game Overview

So let me get you all caught up on the latest in our area. Scott and I are no longer married, but we are sweethearts. The 11yr old boy across the street is married to the sixth grade girl one street over. And not to be left out, our daughter also has a sweetheart – a boy from school. She’s also trying to set up our youngest daughter with a boy a couple blocks away, but she hates him.
It’s all a day in our Tomodachi Life. A crazy, silly, drama-filled, fun life. Except Scott and I aren’t married yet and I find that a bit disturbing. At least we’re dating. I’m wondering how much Scott paid our daughter to keep us dating and not get married. Hmmm… You know, my Mii never did anything this fun on the Wii. Sure, it got fatter or skinnier when I used my WiiFit but other than that, it was just hanging out.
So how did we get our Mii avatars to be so lively? Tomodachi Life for the 2DS and 3DS. You make a Mii then spend some time completing tasks (or problems) that are presented. Feed your Mii and figure out what foods you like… and what happens when it is something your mini-Mii doesn’t like. As you progress, you get to make more and more Mii characters – of friends, of family, of celebrities. It’s your world so you get to make it how you like. Just like other life-simulation games, you can create personalized spaces, Mii’s can date, get married, have a family. Oh, and just because someone proposes doesn’t mean the other person accepts. Sometimes it takes a little more time and a few more tries – or maybe a more romantic spot. Not only can you create Mii’s in the likeness of your family and friends but you can also integrate their voices… and personalities. It’s a diverse game. As my daughter puts it “Experiencing this game will blow your mind away! Tomodachi Life is fun, creative and for all ages.”
Sometimes taking a break from life, chores, responsibilities is necessary for both kids and adults. As owners of a Nintendo 3DS, I can speak first-hand that it’s a great way to escape into another world. Most people think that handheld gaming systems are just for kids but I want to confess something. We bought one for my MIL so she could play brain games when she was hospitalized a few years back. Had Tomodachi Life been available when she was playing on her DS, I assure you she would have been on it. She really enjoyed the pet simulation games and I believe played a sims game on her PC. While the system is great for kids, it is also worth looking at as an alternative for adults. Not only are DS systems great for everyday use but they are perfect for travel – and for killing time when the family is stuck at a sporting event.
I know that we just started school and we’re not even to Halloween yet but it’s a good time to start watching for sales on items on the various lists you’ll be filling. If you wait too long, you might have trouble finding it. Actually, that’s what happened to us last year. Miss M wanted a Pokemon 3DS console but we waiting too long and it was sold out everywhere. We won’t make that mistake this year so when we see promotions like the 4 Day Labor Day sale at Best Buy (8/29 – 9/1/2014), we check our list and check it twice. As an example, the 2DS handheld system is only $99, $30 off the regular price. Have a 3DS on your list? Select 3DS games are part of a promotion on 8/31/2014. You’ll need to log on and check for details! You don’t want to repeat our mistake from last year.
Go recreate life (and your neighborhood) with Tomodachi Life then swing by Best Buy for their latest promotions! Maybe you can even create a Best Buy store on your Tomodachi island!
What a great sounding game – I don’t have kids but actually quite fancy it for myself. x
I have to laugh because the one character pictured looks just like the Wii one my Hubs has. I want this 2DS or the 3DS handheld system for me… or should I say for mii. I also want this game!!!
That is an interesting game. I never thought to play games – you could get this game from multiple sources and not just Best Buy!
My boys love games like this. They have a couple and play them all the time.
We have a Nintendo 3DS. I will have to look into this one!
My son would love this game. He likes things like this.
I’d love to get one of these! I think it would be so fun!
Tomodachi sounds like a game my son would have fun with. He’s always liked virtual living games.
I had no idea about Mii’s & Tomodachi Life! This would be such fun to play.
I’m wondering when my daughter will be asking me for one of these. Probably this year!
we all love games like this at home
can’t wait to play with the halloween crazyness
That looks like so much fun! It’s the kind of game I should never start playing because I’d never get anything else done!
My kids love to play games like this. I will have to share this post with them.
I want to play this game! It looks so fun & i’ve seen hilarious videos from it 😛
That sale is a great way to get ahead of the holiday rush. I love designing those Wii characters. 🙂
I’ve been hearing a lot about this game lately. I think it is something my nieces and nephews would love.
I would love this if they made it for the WII. It is such a cute idea to be able to use your Mii . I have always thought we should be able to do more with them.
How fun! I can see myself getting addicted to this very quickly.
I’ve never even heard of a Nintendo Mii. It looks like such an amazing little device!
Mii’s are the avatars, the device is a 3DS.
I actually had the chance to preview this game at the Nintendo Store in NYC and it was adorable. I love how you can create your own alternate reality.
That looks awesome! My kids would LOVE this.
This game seems like a lot of fun. I should get one for my niece to try, I think she’d really like it.
I asked my second oldest the other day if he’d heard of this, but he said he hadn’t. Best Buy is the perfect place to go for DS games, or any video games for that matter!
This looks like a fun game! I’m going to have to ask my boys if they have seen it yet!
Wow! My son would love this! I’ll have to keep it in mind when shopping for his upcoming birthday!
Looks like a fun game. And yea sometimes in life if you really want it, you gotta try try try again … 🙂
It really is a fun game. Kids love being able to engage in this alternate reality. I had fun playing with it too.
This sounds like so much fun. The best part of the Wii was making a Mii! I had random Miis for people just to make them.
We’ve had a chance to check out Tomodachi Life and it’s really a cool game. I like all the custom features. Really lets you personalize the game to your personality.
Awesome review! Thanks for sharing 🙂 Shared!
