The 2020 Chicago Auto Show was the last major event I attended before the world came to a grinding halt. While they got innovative and offered a summer version of the show in 2021, it conflicted with our schedule and we weren’t able to attend. I was thrilled to be able to return this year and was anxious to see how they were going to pull it off and whether many people would attend. What I discovered is that 2022 Chicago Auto Show is smaller than pre-pandemic, but certainly not lacking in anything.
We attended this year’s event as guests of Nissan so we kicked off the event with an event that showed off the Nissan Frontier Pro-FX. In addition to the walk-around we featured on Instagram, we also were able to check out three customized versions referred to as “Z2X Project”, “Project Hardbody” and “Project Adventure”. We’ll be rolling out videos of these on our social channels as well so stay tuned!
While the show only spanned one of the two prior show floors, they managed to pack a lot of punch into that smaller area. Not only did they brands like Jeep, Toyota and Ram offer their signature indoor test tracks, but there were six test tracks along with simulators too! Plus, Jeep upped the height on their indoor “mountain” to 30 feet with a 40 degree angle both up and down. You can see our ride-along video on TikTok. Part 1 of includes the first half of the Jeep track while we take you up – and down – that massive Jeep hill in part 2.
If you’re interested in seeing how far electric vehicles have come in the past few years, then stop by the show. In terms of styling and features, the variety was amazing. We tested out a couple different ones including a Hyundai and BMW and I’m convinced we’ll be able to find an electric vehicle that meets our requirements when we’re ready to trade in the keys to our van.
Of course, there wasn’t a shortage of sports cars either. I fawned over several that I would be happy to see parked in my garage. I was also intrigued by the number of tents (yes, like for camping) that were included as accessories to trucks and SUVs!
There’s too much to say about the Chicago Auto Show to fit into one article so follow our Facebook Reels, Instagram Reels and TikTok as we continue to roll out vehicle reveals, event features, walk-arounds and more!
