I remember the last so-called screen protector I used on my phone. It was one of those flimsy plastic cling things that came with my phone case for free. I figured I had it, I might as well use it. That thing brought me nothing but frustration as I could always see little air bubbles underneath it. No matter how hard I worked at them, they never disappeared. After a month or so of dealing with it I tore it off and threw it away, forever swearing off screen protectors.
But maybe I’ve been a bit hasty. I’m still using my orange case from Jackery so I have portable battery power whenever I need it, but it doesn’t do anything to protect my screen. If you’ve never broken a screen, be prepared to shell out a couple hundred dollars to have it replaced. So anything I can do to lessen the chance of that happening I’m all for. Somehow I don’t think those previously-mentioned plastic protectors help at all, but I have found something very different that I’ve been using for the past week or two.
There’s this new company called IntelliArmor which is making a product that has forever changed my perception of what a screen protector should do, and what the quality should be. Their latest offering, IntelliGlass, is exactly what the name sounds like – a special glass screen protection system. Everything you’ll need to install this onto your phone is included in the minimalistic retail packaging – the cover, an alcohol prep pad to clean and prepare your old screen, a sticky pad to get even more of those stubborn dust bunnies off your phone and even a couple color-coordinated 3D stickers to place over your home button so it isn’t recessed once the new cover is in place.
The first thing that stood out to me was the sheer clarity of the cover. I’m so used to the satin-ish plastic covers that I found it hard to believe this was an actual screen protector. The IntelliGlass uses an advanced silicone adhesion system that yielded ZERO bubbles. Of course, proper preparation of the surface is necessary to remove any fingerprints, dirt, dust and the like. The included instructions reminded me to do it, and diligently!
And it worked. I cleaned it twice and easily laid the glass piece over the screen and it stuck in place right away. While it does offer protection from scratches getting to your screen, it is a softer outer layer that will scratch a bit more easily than your normal phone glass. The trade-off is worth it though, this new surface almost completely repels fingerprints! As I sit here and look at my phone after carrying it around for a week in my pocket, there’s not a single smudge in sight.
Like I mentioned before, I have the inner case from our Jackery battery system as my primary phone cover. All cases must be a little thicker than the phone to grab on and keep the phone from falling out. This IntelliGlass screen protector is so thin, that it doesn’t even protrude beyond my old case!
THIS is what a screen protector should be. Ultra-hardened real glass that is optically clear and fingerprint resistant. IntelliArmor has models for all iPhones and iPads, as well as most of the popular Android phones. What’s even better is they typically run just under $13 on Amazon! Just a ‘little’ bit less than replacing that screen.
How easy is it to install? So easy that anyone can do it in a few minutes. Don’t believe me, just check this out.
IntelliArmor is so excited to get this product into more hands, they have offered to give one away to a lucky US or Canadian reader of SahmReviews.com!
