“I don’t want those backless trendy shoes.”
“I will never EVER E.V.E.R. own or drive a mini van.”
“I have no need to upgrade to a fancy-shmancy “smart” phone.”
These are all three phrases I muttered quite loudly over the past few years. I own the shoes, we just bought our second mini van and I swear by my iPhone.

My attitude about things change once I try them out or sit down to evaluate the pros and cons. When the iPhone came out with FaceTime, I really saw past the novelty and saw the connectivity value of it. We shared a cellular plan with my mother-in-law, who shared my prior “no-smart-phone-needed” attitude. DH called her up and described the ability to watch the kids open presents on their birthday, to hear them perform in the talent show and to see her granddaughters grow before her eyes – all from halfway across the country. Acknowledging the personal value is all it took and our family joined the smart phone revolution.

As time went by, I loaded more and more apps and found more and more uses for my smart phone. FaceTime as well as sharing online were only a small fraction of the use. I found myself saving a lot of money with digital coupons and promotions for stores, activities and restaurants while comparing prices on products. My mother-in-law who used to carry a camera EVERYWHERE, now relies primarily on her iPhone for taking photos. She also started texting and using Find-a-Friend to track us when we traveled to see her. She recently said she seldom turns on her computer any more. The more we have smart phones, the more uses we find for them. It isn’t about having a toy, it is about having something that improves the quality of life.

Along the way, I’ve lost track of how many people I have converted with “you want an iPhone, you just don’t KNOW you want an iPhone.” I’m not exaggerating. At least two neighbors and a few more at the gym that I can think of off the top of my head. We even caved in and decided to get an iPhone for our 11 year old daughter. We’ve been surprised by how much we have come to rely on her having it!

We realize the importance of being connected with family and purchased an iPhone 5c for our daughter. To help you get connected, we have teamed up with U.S. Cellular to give away an iPhone 5s to one lucky SahmReviews.com reader! #BloggerBrigade

U.S. Cellular offers great plans, an awesome coverage area with 4G LTE and even offers workshops on learning to use your phone. While device workshops are offered around the country, our local U.S. Cellular even goes the extra mile to visit the Center for Active Seniors of Iowa and teach them how to use their phones. That incredible personal attention is one of the reasons I’m excited to be a U.S. Cellular Blogger Brigade member. That’s also why I’m thrilled to be able to offer this phenomenal giveaway for a U.S. Cellular iPhone 5s.

U.S. Cellular offers 4G LTE Coverage, competitive rates and awesome service. Enter to win an iPhone 5s from U. S. Cellular and SahmReviews.com! #BloggerBrigade

While the phone is locked to U.S. Cellular, it doesn’t disqualify you from entering to win. You may be in the U.S. Cellular coverage area and didn’t even realize it! I still regularly hear people say they have no need for a smart phone but I think they just don’t know what all it is capable of. It connects families, encourages photographing the world around you, allows you to save money and get organized.

If you don’t want a smart phone, what is your reason? Enter to win one and maybe you’ll realize how awesome they are!

  1. My iphone is my life!!
I was without it for several months and really couldn’t function., The only thing that kept me same was having my ipad in its place.

I have been an iphone user since its inception when the phone didn’t even have APPS!
And an apple user since 1996. Apple and I go a long way!!

  2. So funny about the no smart phone attitude then not being able to live without it! I was very anti-iphone too for quite a while.

I think there are really two reasons people are like this. We don’t want to overly complicate our lives. And for me personally I don’t like the proprietary nature of apple (I HATE itunes, what is wrong with drag and drop?) and bugginess of iphones.

I have one and the wifi and bluetooth just stopped working, for no reason. I found out it happens a lot.
Every iphone I’ve had, has been buggy. But I’m still getting another. Why? One word.

    SIRI
This voice recognition ability has saved me SO much time.
As soon as android matches it, i’m switching to mostly android. Until then, I’m sticking with the iphone, itune hell and all 🙂

  3. I love apple products, i currently own the 1-5 generation ipods, an ipod touch 3,4 and an iphone 4s

  4. My contract with Verizon is up and I am pondering whether to trade my 4S now for a 5S, or wait for the 6 to come out in August. (Photographic features are an important sales feature for me). I have been very happy with Verizon, despite its high cost. Not sure I would want to switch to US Cellular, especially as Verizon service is good between my house and my elderly mother in law’s, going through a lot of rural/hilly areas. I checked the coverage map for a couple of towns along the way and it shows as “partner coverage”. For me, I don’t think it will work, but it’s still a nice giveaway for others.

  5. I have an iPod, but my spouse has an iPad and a iPhone that’s on its last legs. If I’m the lucky winner, this iPhone would be a great replacement!

  6. I have an iPod Classic, an iPod Touch, an iPod Shuffle, and a MacBook. Sounds excessive when I write it all out! They’re all pretty old models, though, bought over the course of the past maybe eight years. I own a very basic cell phone, not a smart phone, and of course I’d love to win an iPhone!

  7. I love Apple! We have all Apple phones. My daughters is very old so I would love to give her one for graduation!

  8. After years of saying, I’d never get an iPhone, I finally broke down and bought a used iPhone4 when my android finally bit the dust. I’ll never go back! It has so many awesome features but what I like the most is that it syncs with everything through the cloud. Love, love, love it!

  9. I have an Ipod (1st generation) that my sister gave for me 10 years ago!
Thank You for the great giveaway

  10. Hoping I really win one of these, their so expensive to buy and this would be the ideal Iphone to have

  11. i have and old ipod, and is already going down. I do really want this to replace my ipod and my phone

  12. I have a iphone 4 and it is really about had it. I would give it to my grandchildren and I would so enjoy my new 5s!!!

  13. I’ve never owned an Apple device so this would be the first and it would be for my husband. His phone is old and worn and needs replacing badly.

  14. I’d love to own a iPhone 5S – I have never owned anything apple device and would love the chance since I’ve heard great things. My phone right now is old and I am unable to get certain apps on it.

  15. I am so behind the times…no iPhones. Oh wait! I forgot I have like 2 non-working iPods & 1 iPod nano!

  16. I have never had an iPhone or an iPad. I really would love to have the opportunity to try the iPhone.

  17. We have three iPhones and an iPad. I totally agree with what you said in that I didn’t know I wanted an iPhone until I got it and it makes my life so much easier in many ways.

  18. I cannot think of any reason why someone would not want a smart phone. There are so many uses for them and 99.9% of those uses make life so much easier!

  19. I mistakenly put the incorrect giveaway in the “enter another giveaway” today. The correct giveaway is Sol Republic headphones.

  20. i really need this phone so badly,. can you please pick me!.i have been an apple fan last 10 years ago i’m waiting to get just 1..

  21. As far as Apple devices, I have an Apple ][+, an Apple //e, a Macintosh SE, numerous floppy drives and misc Apple ][ cards and a 2 GB Ipod Nano. I’d love to add an iPhone to the list.

  22. Would be thrilled if I won! I have iPad, iPod and iPhone 3S and need upgrade. Apple all the way!
