I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

I’ve always thought that masks and peels are pretty much the same thing but after trying a few of each recently, I discovered they are very different and that I much prefer a mask. LAVO high performance volcanic mud mask ranks up there as one of my current favorites. I received it (along with some others) for the purpose of sharing my thoughts.

What I liked:
-It applied easily. The thick consistency made it easy to scoop and spread without fear of getting it in my eyes or on my hair.
-The scent. When I opened the container and and gave it a whiff test, I could smell some hints of eucalyptus reminiscent of a trip to the spa. However, when I later applied it, I didn’t smell anything. As someone who doesn’t handle overly-scented products very well, this lack of scent during the application process was perfect.
-It dried well without making me feel like I was wearing concrete. I could feel it setting but didn’t feel like I was turning to stone.
-The set product wiped off wiped off without issue and rinsed from the cloth with ease. Clean and quick.
-My skin felt extremely soft afterwards!

What I didn’t like:
-The ONLY thing about LAVO mud mask that I did NOT like was the lack of direction. The instructions state to leave the product on from 5 to 15 minutes. Well, is 5 recommended or 15? That’s a big difference. If I don’t leave it on long enough, is it effective? If I leave it on too long, will it damage my skin? As someone who is not in tune with proper skin care rules and procedures, I honestly didn’t know how long to leave it on and that was frustrating. I went right in the middle to be safe. I would have preferred instructions that said “until mask is completely dried, approximately 10 minutes” or even “when product has dried, 5-15 minutes depending on how thick it was applied.”

Overall, I really liked the product and appreciate that it can be used so quickly and as often as 2-3 times per week. Because I don’t think it is fair to penalize them for my lack of beauty-care knowledge, I give them 5-stars.
