I can never find my sharpening stone when I need it, so I purchased this model based upon the reviews. I love the suction-cup feature that allows me to attach it to my counter and sharpen without having it move all over the place. If you’re familiar with camera mounts for windows (or as someone else mentioned – a GPS system), this is the type of mechanism it uses to attach itself. Also, the fact that it is taller than my stone (and red) makes it easy to find in the drawer as well.
How does it sharpen? It does. That’s all you need to know. We’re not after surgical precision here, and definitely not at this price point. It will sharpen your knives and scissors to as-good-as-new. I didn’t need anything more.
I too experienced an issue mentioned by another reviewer about the ‘quality’ of manufacturing where he saw a dimple in the rubber footing that he had to remove. Ours had this as well (about 2mm high) but it did NOT affect the suction at all. In fact, it may actually be there to help with suction release when you’re ready to remove it, so I’d leave it alone.
