Before I share details about the hefty list of titles releasing in theaters this month, I want to talk about the September movie release schedule. We had some travel on the schedule so we weren’t able to connect with our weekly movie group. As a result, of the four I mentioned last month as being on the top of my priority list, exactly zero are how many I was able to see in the theater. That’s right, I didn’t get to see Runner, Primetime, The Weight OR Heart of the Beast. While we did hit the theater during a break in Seattle while attending PAX West, we opted for Coyote vs. Acme as the timing worked out for that one. In hindsight, it wasn’t the best use of our time. Back at home, our friend group opted for Resident Evil. While it wasn’t on my wish list nor one I would have considered since I don’t follow the video game, it was actually a decent movie. You didn’t need to know the lore of the game nor have watched anything else relating to the IP. The jump scares mixed with comedy actually worked. My good friend hadn’t seen The Odyssey yet so I joined her to watch it in IMAX. Worth the second watch, for sure. I’m hoping my September wish list movies remain in the theater a bit longer so we can actually TRY to see them. I’m not holding my breath though.

If you know anything about brand confusion, you’ll recognize the possible concern for people wanting to see a “mom” movie the weekend of the 16th. Other Mommy and Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother will be in theaters at the same time. If either are on your list, be sure you select the right one. They’re DRAMATICALLY different genres of film! As for me, my priorities are Digger, The Social Reckoning and Klara and the Sun to see with Scott and/or our weekly friend group. Verity is also on the list as it’s one that Kennedy wants to see and I plan to be available to go with her in the event her boyfriend or friends aren’t able to. Another great month of movies, for sure!
