New Game Release – Chang’an

Arcane Wonders has released Chang’an, a strategic city building game set in the historic Tang dynasty, into retail!

Step into the vibrant and bustling world of Tang dynasty China with Chang’an, a strategic board game that challenges players to become master urban planners in one of history’s greatest cities. As one of the largest and most cosmopolitan cities of its time, Chang’an serves as the perfect backdrop for a competitive and immersive city-building experience.

In Chang’an, players take on the role of skilled urbanists striving to construct the most impressive districts while earning favor from the imperial court. Through careful planning and strategic decision-making, players place cards onto their personal boards, known as gates, to prepare future actions. These cards are then moved into the city districts to construct buildings and attract influential characters who bring valuable abilities and rewards.

Each turn offers meaningful choices, as players must decide between researching new opportunities, managing resources and activating character effects, or building structures that contribute to their growing city. Every card added to the districts provides unique privileges and victory points, creating a layered and rewarding gameplay experience.

The game progresses as players expand their districts, with the end triggered once a player successfully builds nine or more cards into their city. At that point, the competition concludes, and the player with the highest number of victory points is crowned the greatest urbanist of Chang’an. With its blend of strategic planning, resource management, and historical theme, Chang’an offers engaging gameplay that is easy to learn yet rich in depth.

Designed by Carlo Camarotto and Nestore Mangone, Chang’an is for one to four players, ages fourteen and up, and plays in around forty-five minutes. It retails for $44.99!
