Find Reasons to Be Thankful
In about a week, my parents will be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Since most of our family will be together for Thanksgiving, we’ll be honoring them today. Sixty years. This is no small feat and is one of my many reasons to be thankful.
Their marriage wasn’t always perfect. They had their struggles – with one another, with raising three children, with finances, with running a business, with health and so much more. Yet here they are, still together and happy as can be. I’m fortunate to have been witness to how they handled both success and failure and for that, I am thankful. I have learned a lot from them.
As you gather together today, please take a minute to find reasons to be thankful. Through hardship and success. Through joy and tears. Throughout life, being thankful isn’t just about what is happening to us, but to those around us. Set aside differences. Turn off the news. Stop scrolling social media. Make the day about being positive.
My hope for today is that you’ll seek out and celebrate the people and things that bring you joy. Go sit with your family and friends and enjoy the time together. And of course, some good food.
