Hey, Ice Cream Man! Keep on Driving!

Disclosure

Countless times, we’ll be standing outside, playing sidewalk chalk or working in the yard when that familiar ring-a-ling wafts in the distance. The kids look at each and try to figure out if it’s coming or going. DH and I look at each other and roll our eyes.

“No, girls. We have ice cream inside.”

On occasion, we’ll cave and let them get something. Makes it a nice treat. And when those times come around, I look at the faded signs on the side of the truck and lament that there isn’t something screaming my name.

“I guess I’ll take that one.” Don’t get me wrong, it’s good. But it’s not dreamy.

No secret that I have a sweet tooth and although I’m not picky, I do appreciate quality products. If I’m going to spend the money and the calories on something, it might as well be good.

Mom Central had a blog tour coming out for Breyers Smooth & Dreamy bars and sandwiches. I thought about a number of great stories that could lead up to that so I applied for the tour. I was so excited when I was selected that I almost didn’t want to give away any of the extra coupons they sent for readers. Seriously, it’s Breyers. And their list of bars and sandwiches made me really want to just buy one of each. Yum.

But I didn’t. I used two coupons – one to try one of the bar products and one for a sandwich product. We purchased the Smooth & Dreamy Triple Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Bars as well as the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Sandwiches.

What did we think? Well… yum. Did I say that yet? Could eat the whole box but they’re too rich for that. My sweet tooth was plenty satisfied after just one.

Let’s start with the Triple Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Bars. The bars had a good texture and the chocolate around the outside didn’t just flake off. Have you ever had an ice cream bar where you take a bite and lose a huge chunk of chocolate to the ground? Not so with these. They held their shape just fine until I reached the stick in the middle. DH wasn’t a fan of the rich, dark chocolate flavor of the bar and relinquished any claim over the remainder of the box. Fine by me since I thought they were awesome. A nice mix of chocolate chunks and ice cream.

What about the sandwiches? Given the choice, I usually select bars or cones over sandwiches. The cookies are often very dense to hold it all together and I’m not a fan of that. DH had one and said it was very good so I tried a bite. The cookie on the outside wasn’t thick and heavy – it was very evenly distributed (taste-wise) with the filling. It also wasn’t chewy like many often are. Next time we had ice cream treats, I claimed one for myself and enjoyed it.

And the kids enjoyed them both… but it’s an ice cream novelty so I didn’t expect anything besides that.

Stop by the Breyers website to see if there’s a flavor that would make you pass up the ice cream man. While you’re there, you can enter their “Wheel of Delights” instant win contest. If you find a tempting treat, be sure to check for a store in your area! If you’re big into whipping together your own ice cream treats, consider entering their “Scoop-Off Sundae Recipe Contest” for a chance to win some awesome prizes.

And remember how I said I didn’t want to share the coupons from Mom Central? Well, that wouldn’t be very nice, would it? Keep reading for details on how you can win a full-value coupon for a free Breyers Smooth & Dreamy product of your choice!
