I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
At the age of 44, I’ve come to realize I need to treat my skin better than I have until this point. I’ve started purchasing higher quality makeup products but also looking at various haircare and skincare products. I’ve discovered that I like lotions, creams and serums for daily use and enjoy masks for occasional “repair” work. Before starting this journey, I thought masks and peels were the same thing. They aren’t. For that matter, masks come in all kinds of varieties too.
I received Barefaced Dead Sea Mud Facial Mask for the purpose of sharing my thoughts.
Sensitive Skin: I have sensitive skin and have to be careful with which products I use. This one didn’t cause me any issues or skin reactions.
Texture: As I said, I’ve tried several and this one has more of a goopy texture than many of the others. It is thick enough to not drip during application but it seemed like I wasn’t able to apply very much at a time. That isn’t a negative comment nor a positive – it’s simply stating that if you prefer a certain texture, keep that in mind.
Application: This is the first mask I have tried that said to gently massage the product into the skin. I actually really liked the feel of it and it certainly felt like it helped me apply it evenly and acknowledge the little crevices here and there.
Process: It dries stiff but doesn’t feel like concrete. Timing is great as well, 15 minutes isn’t a huge time commitment. It wiped off extremely easily, as well.
Fragrance: Many other reviewers said they could smell lavender. As someone who doesn’t like overly fragrant products, that was actually a good thing for me. During application, it had a slight fragrance but i don’t think it was the lavender coming through. I’m not sure what it was but I wasn’t particularly fond of it. HOWEVER, as soon as I got it wet 15 minutes later to rinse, I LOVED the scent it emitted.
End result: Holy cow did my skin feel soft. Not just soft… silky. I’m not kidding when I say that after using it on my face, I wanted to slather it on other parts of my body. Particularly, my arms and shoulders. The clean sensation was nice but the soft, silkiness was awesome.
Overall, I really liked the product. It was easy to apply, quickly dried and the fragrance when rinsing was great. But I primarily liked it because of the end result: silky soft skin.
8/25/2014 Edit: I’ve been notified by the company that they amended the fragrance after reading that it hadn’t gone over well. I love when a company takes feedback into consideration! That was really the only thing I didn’t really like about the product. As a result, I’ve amended my review from 4 stars to 5. Looking forward to trying it out with the new scent!
