Mega Giveaway Day 2 – Atari Centipede Board Game

Can I reiterate how excited we are about this year’s Mega Giveaway? We have so many prizes that we debated the different ways to get them to our readers. Ultimately, we decided to approach it the way you would anything you love: savor it. Sip wine, take small bites of dessert and… spread the giveaways out over a longer period of time.

Day 1 started with a Hatchimals, an incredibly hot toy for kids. Day 2 hits a wider target, crossing generations. It’s not just a board game (which is cool by itself) but the theme is a throwback to my childhood. It’s Atari’s Centipede from IDW Games.

2 or 4 players play opposite sides in this world of the classic Atari arcade game with one side controlling the Gnome, exploring the forest and trying to defeat the Centipede. The other side, naturally, takes on the role of the Centipede! You’ll see Atari’s Centipede board game in our upcoming gift guide showcasing gift ideas for pop culture enthusiasts so keep an eye out for that. In the meantime, let our sponsors know how much you appreciate their participation in our holiday promotion then enter to win a copy!

  1. I actually have never played an Atari game! I was a super Nintendo kid my husband had an Atari! It’s probably been at least 20 years for him!

  2. I play classic Atari games often, since we actually do still have our Atari!! 🙂 I also love playing them on the computer over at the Atari games website! 🙂

  3. a local pizza shop has some classic arcade games in there like q*bert/pac-man and more so i get to play these pretty often!

  4. The last time I played an Atari game is so long ago, I actually can’t remember. Must’ve been sometime in the 90s, I guess. I always played at my friend’s house, since I never owned one myself. I only had a C64 and a Sega MegaDrive and things like that. But Giana Sisters and Bubble Bobble are still among my favorite games of all time! I guess I have to get me and Atari 500 sometime in the future ^^

  5. Umm, the 80’s or 90’s. Gosh, it has been so long ago I can’t remember. I have a hard time remembering what I ate a month ago so I can’t recall when I last played an Atari game.

  6. The last time I played an Atari game was a long time ago (80’s), in a state far, far away from Missouri….loved Pong!

  7. The last time I played a classic Atari game was 10 years ago in an old sit down arcade cabinet while on a road trip, it was a blast!

  8. Its been years since I played a classic Atari game, I used to have a little controller that could plug into a tv that had a bunch of games, so probably 10 years now..

  9. Oh gosh, I can’t remember! We had an Atari…I loved Frogger! Oh I miss these games. Now I play video games with my son. They certainly have changed quite a bit. Fun giveaway…thank you!

  10. Its been several years! They used to have a table version of pacman at the pizza place nearby where i grew up. So probably then! At least late 80s/early 90s!

  11. I have never played an Atari, but I remember playing a lot of the games that were on Atari in the Arcade when I was a kid. So it’s been a while since I’ve played any.

  12. The last time I played an Atari game was in august with my sister, brother in law and neices at a local retro-arcade.

  13. Good Lord, the first time I played Atari would have to be in the 80’s when it was 1st out. We thought we were something playing Pit Fall, Excite Bike, and Centipede.. Those were good times..

  14. I don’t know about the first or the last time I played, exactly. I wasn’t born in the Atari generation, I was more the Super Nintendo generation, but my Dad still had his Atari. My brother and I would challenge each other to rounds of Moon Patrol or Asteroids on a regular basis before and after we got our SNES, that would have been the 90s.

  15. well, I play Centipede online and last played it a few weeks ago. Prior to that I played it on my Atari 7800 which I left at my moms since she also enjoys the game.

  16. I still have my original 8-bit. It came with Duck Hunt. I remember playing Dr. Mario for hours with my sister. It was one of the few games that 2 people could play at the same time.

  17. It’s been awhile but I would put it into the 90s. We only had an Atari until I was like 10! I used to be awesome at the old Smurf game for it!
