Nobody told me that having a 4th grade daughter was going to be so difficult. Yes, I expected things to be hard but not until she was in junior high! For Pete's sake, she's only in 4th grade and it's already drama-ridden. Ever since the beginning of the year, her "best friend" hasn't been the best of friends. Actually, she hasn't wanted to be a friend at all. They're in the same class and by coincidence were even assigned to share lockers! But there's another girl who also is in their class that has entered the picture. Despite Miss M's attempts to make them the three musketeers, it just isn't in the cards. Her "best friend" doesn't want it that way.
It's sad. But a simple fact: Life is not going to get any easier for any of us.
There are many firsts in life you never forget. Your first car. Your first kiss. Your first job. Your first love. And by 'love' I mean your first love for something, whether it be a person, object or hobby. Me? Skateboarding!
During my pre-teen years our family was stationed overseas in what used to be West Germany. We didn't live on base as my parents weren't military, but government civilians stationed over there. This was in a time well before cable TV, the internet, free phone calls - this was the 70's man! With neighbors that spoke a different language we really didn't have many friends to play with. Aside from part time and freelance work, I've been focusing on my health and my weight which includes exercising more diligently and eating better. Among some of my recent posts, I've mentioned health, fitness and food.
Well, I'm ready to tell you about yet another tool in my weight loss arsenal. Let me sweeten the deal by saying that I'll be wrapping up this post with details on a giveaway. And when I say SWEETEN, I mean it literally!
When I was a kid, my brothers and I were pretty involved in sports and activities of some sort or another. I was in dance from a very young age as well as in the hardball Little League. We lived in rural Iowa and there wasn't a Little League there until my folks set it up! My brothers were involved in wrestling and, of course, the Little League team, too. As we got older, we were more involved in different activities and constantly on the go. I remember how hectic our schedules were as we worked practices, lessons, recitals, tournaments, games and all into the schedule. Until I became a parent, I didn't realize just how crazy that schedule really was. Nor how expensive it is!
